SeBS360: From Sentinel Benefits Study to Observatory

SeBS360 is an ESA-funded project under the Copernicus programme that builds on the earlier Sentinel Benefits Study (SeBS) to help establish the Sentinel Benefits Observatory. Led by Evenflow in partnership with EARSC and the University of Oxford, the project examines how Copernicus Sentinel data create value in operational settings.

At the core of SeBS360 are case studies that analyse how Sentinel-derived information is used in workflows and decision-making by commercial users and public authorities. Using a bottom-up value chain approach, the project assesses benefits across six dimensions: economic, environmental, societal, regulatory, scientific and innovation-related.

SeBS360 will complement its case studies with Synopsis Reports that consolidate insights on Sentinel users, applications, and uptake trends, alongside thematic benchmarks comparing benefits across different domains. It will also curate a repository of notable use cases, building a robust and expanding evidence base of operational applications across sectors.

In parallel, the project will host exchange workshops to share insights and foster dialogue on impact assessment practices, while refining the SeBS methodology to enhance future analyses and benchmarking. Together, these efforts aim to strengthen how the value of Sentinel data is evaluated, communicated, and applied.

If your organisation is actively using Copernicus Sentinel data, we invite you to share your experience by submitting a case study. SeBS360 is seeking operational examples from both commercial users and public authorities to showcase how Sentinel-derived information delivers value across a wide range of sectors and applications.
